Penelope – Retired July 2022

Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) health records

Penelope – CH Alice in Wonderland Mon Salai CGC TKI ATD

Extraordinary mother to our second generation of  competition dogs: Deacon, Feia, Quil as well as many beloved family members!

Penelope was bred and reared in Poland although her sire is from the Netherlands. She joined us at 4 months old and has been our little princess ever since! She completed Obedience I and II and earned her Canine Good Citizen title. She has always been highly sensitive to human emotion, especially sadness/pain, and has provided solace for me on more than one occasion. Penelope became my first certified therapy dog and has visited many schools, summer camps and retirement homes.

Penelope also became my first agility dog. We have an amazing connection and communication but she does not really have a desire for speed (except for over the A-frame, which she adores!), so we do agility at home for fun. Penelope excels at Obedience, Trick and Rally however!

Penelope started showing in conformation February 2020 and finished her championship by August 2020 even with the limited shows available that year. She is an excellent mother and produces wonderful, consistent and stable puppies.

RETIRED

Penelope will always be our little princess, and we miss her terribly. However, sometimes you just ‘know’ when it is the right time. A referral request came in for an adult standard poodle to be trained as a service dog. The desired personality traits matched Penelope perfectly, and after our  conversations with the prospective owner/handler, I knew they would make a great team. I could also tell that Penelope was ready for the next phase in her life and we wanted her to feel fulfilled. We are so thrilled it worked out, and at such a perfect time in her life! Penelope is quickly picking up her new routine and has already learned part of her job as a service dog. We expect she will be excelling in her new career in no time!
