And of course, we will not forget our beloved dogs who moved on. First there was our matriarch Gigi – our foundation girl. We didn’t think she would ever leave, but a family in need reached out through a mutual friend. Gigi filled a hole in her mom and dad’s heart, and is a beloved companion at home and at their cabin. Then there’s sweet princess Penelope who captured our hearts and helped us heal. When a person reached out with specific needs, Penelope was matched to this wonderful retirement home where she is a constant companion to her mom, is training for service work, and still loves to be treated as a princess. And finally, Archie – the endlessly happy and optimistic boy who captured my heart. We accepted Archie back into our home when his mom could no longer care for him. He loved the open acreage although he never wandered far from me. Archie was never meant to stay here though, and one week after his service dog evaluation, he went to his forever home. Hugs and kisses to Gigi, Penelope and Archie!
